The Advanced Gradient Controller panel is broken up into three main sections:
Color Tab
Redraw sample This button is used to refresh the gradient sample to reflect any changes the user has made to the gradient settings.
Gradient Sample Bar This shows the current Diffuse gradient values and their Opacity. The top bar shows all active gradient values and positions from 0 to 100.
The bottom bar shows what percentage of the top bar will be mixed with the object surface and gradients from an other active Surface Tab in AGC. In the example above Use constant has been activated so 100% of the top bar values will be mixed with the object surface for the entire length of the gradient (from 0-100). This setting allows the user to determine how the gradient affects the target surface beyond the From and To values. The four End behavior settings and their effects are depicted below.
Falloff len This value works in conjunction with the End behavoir: falloff setting.
From These requesters allow the user to assign a start point for the gradient along the X, Y and Z axes respectively.
Read object This allows the user to use the position of an object in Layout to determine the From position. When this option is active the values in the From requesters are ignored. In addition to interactive placement, using Read object will also allow the user to animate the From values.
To These requesters allow the user to assign an end point for the gradient along the X, Y and Z axes respectively.
Read object This allows the user to use the position of an object in Layout to determine the From position. When this option is active the values in the To requesters are ignored. In addition to interactive placement, using Read object will also allow the user to animate the To values.
This setting offsets the gradient and "ping pongs" the gradient from 0 to 100 and back to 0.
This setting allows the user to displace the gradient with fractal noise. The Turbulance value may be any integer from 0 - 100.
Active This setting determines whether the slot is active.
Color This setting allows the user to assign RGB values for the current slot.
Position This setting determines where in the gradient the current color will go. The range is from 0 to 100. A color at 0 will be positioned on the right end of the gradient sample bar.
This setting allows the user to set a single opacity value for the entire gradient.
Active This setting determines whether the slot is active
Value This setting determines the opacity of the current slot (if Use constant is not activated).
Position This setting determines where in the gradient the current Opacity value will go. The range is from 0 to 100. an Opacity value at 0 will be positioned on the right end of the gradient sample bar.
Allows the user to apply an envelope which will change Opacity value of the current slot.
