Assembler Tutorial Section 2

Part 1 | Part 2

Particle Group settings

In this section, we will use polygons from the Assembler Object instead of particles to form the object.

If you didn’t go through the Suggestions part of Section 1, these are the settings you should change after you get to the Suggestions point:
  • Number of Particles should now be 4240(the number of polygons in the Assembler Object).
  • Birth Rate of the particles should be 5000 particles/sec.
  • Ordered Option in the Assembler Controller should be turned on.
  • Target Count should be set to 4240 to create an assembly point for each polygon.

1. Go to the particle group(by clicking on LWLogo under Particle Groups in the Items view).
2. Select Polygons for the Particle Type.
3. Click on the File Requester button and choose the Metalogo.lwo from the Objects directory. This tells Particle Storm which object’s polygons to emit in place of the particles.
4. Press Play. Notice that the Fountain now emits polygons, rather than particles.

Quick Tip:
Try turning off the Ordered option in the Assembler Controller. Play the simulation, and notice that the polygons are completely misaligned.
