Any object can be a particle in Particle Storm 2.0. For more information about Item Motion and Sub-Objects, see the section titled Creating Particle Objects. In short, Item Motion will replace the particles with objects once you are back in Layout, while using Sub-Objects will allow you to see the objects in the Particle Storm preview window. How to See Sub-Objects in Particle Storm 2.0:
Step1: First set the Particle Type to Sub-Objects. A dropdown cell will apear allowing you to add sub-objects.
Step2: Click on "Add" and select a LightWave object. This will serve as the sub-object.
Step3: Under Particle Groups, set the Particle Shape to Actual Geometry.
Step4: Hit Play in the preview window. You should now see the sub-objects in the preview window instead of particles.
Step5:Right click on the Particle Group and select "Create Effect Object". Particle Storm will create a special .lwo object that represents the sub-object.
NOTE:
In addition to the .lwo object, a .pso object will also be created. This contains Particle Storm specific information and the user should not be concerned with this file except that it should be located in the same directory as its corresponding .lwo file.
Further details about importing Sub-Objects can be found in the section titled Importing Particles.
Warning!: Depending on how many particles are in the particle group and how many polygons make up the sub-objects, object creation and playback speeds can vary drastically. Use this feature wisely!
