PALM TREE TUTORIAL

The easiest way to create a tree is to use the settings for over 40 trees from the [content]\OnlineDocs\TreeDruid\OnlineDocs\treedata folder. Then it is just a matter of loading the .tdd file into Tree Druid, and then do a little adjusting to obtain the desired design. Tree Druid is located in both Modeler (Object panel, Layout section, Custom roll-out, DR_TreeD) and Layout (Objects panel, Object Replace Plug-ins, DR_TreeD. In this tutorial, we will use Modeler.

After you have found the .tdd files, select the PalmDate.tdd. Load it into Tree Druid and hit OK. You will get a palm tree that looks like this.

Maybe not exactly what you were looking for in a palm tree. It is easy enough to adjust it to suit your particular needs. For example, increase the Gravity to 100% under the Nature panel. Under the Leaves panel, increase the Leaf Length to 36" which automatically adjusts the Leaf Width to 18". Hit OK.

Under the Surfaces panel in LightWave, you will see that the Leaves and Bark are already named for coloring and/or surfacing. As you can see, this is a more fuller Palm Tree than the preceeding one with just a few minor adjustments.
